The number of new COVID-19 infections in Ontario continued to climb on Saturday.
The province reported 169 new infections, the largest daily total since July 24. This is day number 10 in a row where the new case count has been in triple digits. Peel Region was once again the leader of the pack with 46 new infections, followed by Toronto at 42, and 30 in Ottawa.
Health officials said 28 of Ontario’s 34 public health units reported five or fewer new COVID-19 cases, and of those, 19 reported no new cases at all.
The province said 28,600 tests were processed in the past 24 hours.
Of the 43,003 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the outbreak began in January, 90 per cent are considered resolved.
The death toll from the illness is 2,811.
