Province reports lowest addition to COVID case count since late March

The number of recoveries is over double that of new cases

Public Health Ontario reported just 111 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, the lowest number seen since a surge in cases on March 25.

This comes as the number of new cases remains near or below the 200 mark for nearly two weeks straight.

Meanwhile, there were over twice as many recoveries as new cases announced on Friday, with 226 people having recovered in the past 24 hours. Health officials confirmed three lives were lost since Thursday’s update.

To get these results, Public Health Ontario says a new record in daily testing was set: 30,780 tests were run in a day, nearly double the Ontario’s daily testing target. There were over 27,000 tests waiting in backlog.
