Public Health Ontario announces lowest number of new COVID-19 cases since the end of March

Health officials report a testing backlog of over 17,500

Public Health Ontario this morning announced it has added just 258 new cases of COVID-19 to the province-wide case count, the lowest number of additions since March 29th.

This brings the total case count to 21,494; of those, 16,204 people have since recovered, an increase of 359 since yesterday, and just over 75% of all cases. However, another 33 lives were lost since yesterday’s update, with 1,798 people lost to date.

Provincial health officials say there was a backlog yesterday of over 17,500 tests waiting to be run, while just over 17,400 were conducted a day prior. To date, 492,487 tests have been run.
