Public School Board asking community to submit name suggestions for upcoming south end high school

Think about geography, history and community when coming up with new name

A new public secondary school is coming to south Barrie and you can help name it.

The Simcoe County District School Board is preparing to open a new secondary school in the south end, bringing with it the opportunity for the community to get involved in the naming process.

In coming up with a name, the School Board is encouraging everyone to consider the environmental setting, the community’s geographic hisory and the diversity of the school community as a whole.

Submissions are being accepted until February 28th. Your name suggestion can be submitted online here, while hard copy submission forms are available at the reception desks of Hewitt’s Creek PS (located at 41 Sandringham Dr, Barrie), Hyde Park PS (72 The Queensway, Barrie) and Algonquin Ridge ES (191 Golden Meadow Rd, Barrie).

A School Naming Committee will be formed to review all submissions. The committee will include parents/guardians, students, SCDSB representatives, a member of the Barrie municipal council and one community member.
