
A member of the public alerted Ontario Provincial Police on Thursday afternoon about an all-terrain vehicle in the ditch on Rama Road and reported the male driver was showing signs of impairment, including a strong smell of alcohol.
Officers arrived on the scene and launched an impaired investigation.
The man was arrested and taken to the Orillia OPP detachment for further testing.
The accused was found to have had a previous conviction for impaired-related offences and was a prohibited driver, police said.
The 41-year-old from Ramara Township was charged with the following:
- Adult Operation while impaired - Alcohol and drugs
- Adult Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Adult Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
- Adult Drive motor vehicle, no plates
- Adult Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing on Friday.
