Barrie Police apprehended a woman after witnesses reported a break-in at a restaurant in downtown Barrie Thursday night.
At 11:24 p.m., officers responded to a report of a break-and-enter at the southwest corner of Dunlop and Mulcaster Streets. Upon arrival, witnesses told police that a female had smashed the front window of the restaurant and entered the business.
She then exited with a single bottle of alcohol, left it on the sidewalk and fled westbound on foot. However, a trail of blood droplets helped police determine the suspect had sustained injuries from the broken glass, which was also scattered on the sidewalk out front.
After exiting with one bottle of whisky and leaving it on the sidewalk, she fled westbound on foot. However, police found her hiding in a nearby stairwell off Dunlop Street. Barrie Police says that this incident was successfully concluded in 11 minutes thanks to the cooperation between witnesses and the officers on-scene.
The 50-year-old woman was arrested and brought to hospital, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and subsequently released for transport to Barrie Police Headquarters.
Her charges include break and enter and obstructing a peace officer. She's since been in custody for a bail hearing, which is set to occur Friday in Barrie by video.
