Restoration work continues at the Innisfil Recreational Complex (IRC) following the fire incident on May 12, 2025. The facility, which contains the Innisfil YMCA, remains closed while critical repairs and safety assessments are completed.

As part of the ongoing recovery process, air duct cleaning and air quality testing have been identified as necessary next steps to ensure the building meets safety standards for public use.

Staff are cautiously optimistic that the facility will be able to reopen during the week of June 9th. The pool will remain closed for a longer period due to the extent of the damage to its operating equipment. Should the facility be ready to open earlier, the Town will notify the public via social media and other communication channels.

To better serve its members, the YMCA will be replacing a section of the south gym floor in addition to repainting court lines and the YMCA logo to align this existing project with the current closure. The YMCA anticipates reopening the gym by the end of June.

Due to the temporary closure of the Innisfil YMCA, member payments are not being processed at this time. No additional charges will be applied until the facility has reopened. The YMCA will provide an update for its members early next week regarding the partial reopening of the YMCA facility.

The initial emergency response on May 12 resulted in a large volume of water entering the building. This impacted essential mechanical and electrical systems and has required an extensive cleanup, thorough remediation, and comprehensive testing to ensure a safe environment for the community.

The Town appreciates the ongoing patience and understanding of residents during this time. Further updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
