Ontario Provincial Police say initial reports suggest a deadly six-vehicle crash on Highway 400 in Innisfil late Friday afternoon was the result of a road rage incident.

Around 5:30 p.m., police say they were contacted about a multi-vehicle collision on the 400 in the area of Highway 89.

According to authorities, the two vehicles that were allegedly involved in the road rage incident were southbound when they collided with each other.

"From the initial collision, one of the vehicles crossed the centre median dividing the highway into the northbound lanes, which resulted in a collision with a pickup truck travelling northbound. The vehicle that crossed the median rolled, and as a result, a 21-year old male was pronounced deceased from his injuries," OPP said Saturday in a post on X.

The victim was from Mississauga.

The pickup truck driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Police closed the 400 in both directions from Highway 89 to County Road 88, and it reopened around four Saturday morning.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been laid.

Investigators would like to hear from any witnesses and those with dashcam footage. They can call Aurora OPP at 905-841-5777.
