Robbery at Tim Hortons in Penetanguishene on Tuesday

Police said the suspect was armed with a weapon

An arrest has been made in connection with a robbery around 4:30 Tuesday morning at a Tim Hortons on Main Street in Penetanguishene.

Police said a male suspect threatened a staff member with a weapon and demanded the victim hand over their money. The victim complied and the suspect took a plastic bag containing personal belongings, including house keys and a purse, which contained cash and identification. The man fled on foot.

Officers later saw the suspect heading into a bush area off Highway 93. The OPP Canine Unit assisted with the search and the suspect was located and arrested without incident.

Investigators believe this is an isolated incident and there is no concerns for public safety.

A 41 year old from Midland has been charged with robbery with a weapon, uttering threats, failure to comply with a release order and breach of probation.
