RVH cancels all elective non-urgent surgical procedures
Barrie hospital says the decision will reduce non-essential visits to the health centre
The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre cancelling all non-urgent surgical procedures as of Monday.
RVH says the decision was made to reduce non-essential visits to the health centre, ensure the safety of patients and preserve vital medical supplies and equipment.
- All non-urgent surgical cases will be postponed.
- All non-urgent endoscopic procedures will be postponed.
- All preadmission clinic visits will be cancelled and rescheduled
The decision was made less than 24 hours after Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliot requested hospitals to ramp down on elective surgeries and other non-emergent clinical activities.
The Barrie hospital will require all visitors and patients to be screened before entering the facility.
Visitors are limited to one per patient and visiting hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
