The Angel Tree has wings.
This is the eighth year of the Angel Tree ceremony, which allows patients, visitors, physicians and volunteers to purchase an angel for a minimum $10 to honour a friend or loved one this holiday season.
The first angel of the holiday season was placed on the tree by Janice Skot, RVH president and CEO, in memory of her mother Terry O’Brien and the second angel by Linda Sansom, a registered respiratory therapist. Ransom placed an angel in memory of her colleague Mary German, who passed away almost a year ago from cancer. Her angel also represents all staff, physicians, volunteers and patients who have also passed away this year.
“The holidays can be a difficult time for people, especially if they have lost someone they love. It is also a special time to be inspired by angels who are still among us, ” says Skot. “The Angel Tree ceremony is a beautiful way to remember those people, while at the same time supporting the important work we are doing to bring care closer to home. We are fortunate to live in a community so full of generous and kind-hearted people.”
The Angel Tree is located in the health centre’s Main lobby. Angels can be purchased from the RVH Foundation until December 23.
