Ryan Gosling says he took the role of Ken in the new "Barbie" movie after he saw his daughter's Ken doll face down in the dirt.
On "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon," he explained his decision to take the role of Barbie's long-time boyfriend.
After director Greta Gerwig offered him the job, he took a moment to think about it.
When he went into his backyard, he saw his daughter's poor ken doll face down in the dirt next to a squished lemon.
He then messaged Gerwig and said, "I shall be your Ken. For his story must be told."
Fallon also asked about the picture of him dressed as Ken that broke the internet.
Gosling said he was surprised by some of the reactions.
"I was surprised how some people were clutching their pearls about my Ken," he said. "As if they ever thought about Ken for a second before this."
Goslings added that the script is one of the best he's ever read but is still very quiet about the plot; however, he revealed one thing we already knew.
"Ken doesn't have money, a house, a car, or a job. Those aren't plot points; that's just Ken." Gosling said.
The "Barbie" movie starring Margot Robbie is expected out next year.
