School bus lights flashing? Be sure you stop

At least three drivers did not stop this week near Midland

Have an eye, please, for those flashing lights on school buses.

OPP are investigating three cases in the Midland area this week where drivers passed a stopped bus while allowing students on or off.

The law specifies that, unless it’s a divided highway, drivers in both directions must stop for a school bus with its lights flashing.

Student safety is the big issue. But consider, too, the penalties for not stopping – a fine of up to $2000 and six demerit points for a first offence.

You also have to answer to your insurance company.
