Greenlight for Scream 6

We can never say goodbye Sidney.

Scream 6 has been given the green light while its latest installment, "Scream (5)," is still in theatres.

Since its January release, the current slasher film has brought in $100 million worldwide, an easy reason for Paramount Pictures to jump on the next installment.

The same creative team will work on the newest film, including directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.

Filming is scheduled for this summer.

The first scream film released in 1996 was directed by the "Master of Horror" Wes Craven.

In 2011 Craven released Scream 4, his final movie in the franchise before his death in 2015.

Cast of "The Color Purple" announced

Plans are underway for the remake of the classic 1985 film "The Color Purple."

The musical adaptation is directed by Blitz Bazawule and slated for release in December 2023.

News is trickling in on who will star in the movie, and the two leading women are no strangers to the roles.

Fantasia (American Idol) will star as Celie, and Danielle Brooks (Orange is the New Black) as Sofia.

Both played their respective roles in the musical stage version.

Taraji P. Henson (Empire) will star as Shug Avery.

The original film, directed by steven Spielberg, starred Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey and went on to win numerous awards.

The story takes place over several decades following the life of Celie, a young black girl who is forced into marriage and deals with her husband's abuses.

Over the years, she meets friends and family that help her find the confidence to set off on her own to find happiness.

Watch these women's reactions when they get news of their new roles.

Hundreds come to the defense of Hugh Hefner

Hundreds of former Playboy employees have come to the defense of the late Hugh Hefner.

The magazine founder who died in 2017 has come under criticism after "A&E" released the docuseries" Secrets of Playboy."

According to People magazine, close to five hundred people, including Hefner's ex-wife Kimberly Hefner and other former girlfriends, have signed an open letter coming to his defense.

A portion of the open letter states;

"From all we know of Hef, he was a person of upstanding character, exceptional kindness, and dedication to free thought.

"He demonstrated a commitment to living an honest life beyond everything else. Our time within Hugh Hefner's Playboy and the organizations subsidiaries remains a period all of us are fond of."

The docuseries shares the stories of some former playmates, including his ex-girlfriend Holly Madison, who described life in the playboy mansion as "cult-like."

People magazine reports that an A&E spokesperson responded to the letter saying, "The stories shared in 'Secrets of Playboy' are the personal experiences of the documentary's participants and deserve to be told despite how difficult they may be for some to hear."

"A different experience with Mr. Hefner or the Playboy culture does not negate the experiences of those who have come forward to share their truth on the series." the statement says.

The docuseries premiered on January 24.
