Sea-Doo driver charged with impaired while on Nottawasaga River

If this guy was looking to make a splash, he did, and for all the wrong reasons.

Members of the Collingwood & Blue Mountains OPP Marine Unit were conducting compliance checks for life jackets and safety equipment on vessels Monday afternoon when they interacted with a person on a Sea-Doo on the Nottawasaga River in Wasaga Beach.

Officers noticed an open container of alcohol and began an impaired investigation.

The man was taken to the Huronia West OPP detachment for a breath test which determined he was two times over the legal limit.

A 37-year-old from Wasaga Beach was charged with impaired driving and operating of a boat with an open container of liquor.

As a result, his driver's licence was suspended for 90 days.

The man has a court date next month.
