Secondary School Teachers Union Members Walking off The Job For One Day, Again

Second One-Day Strike Amid Tense Negotiations With the Province

Educators with the province’s secondary school teachers’ union are planning a second one-day strike on December 11th.

Unlike the previous one-day strike, this one is not province-wide; a limited number of school boards will be affected. All Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation members with the Simcoe County District School Board and the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board will be participating in the strike, according to a statement from the OSSTF today.

The OSSTF represents secondary school teachers with the public board and staff at both elementary and secondary schools within the Catholic board.

“If Doug Ford’s government and his Education Minister have not yet recognized that the will of the membership is being expressed through the union and its bargaining team, we will need to take further action,” said OSSTF President Harvey Bischof in a message to union members.
