Provincial police have put the cuffs on a person accused of robbing and pushing a senior citizen to the ground in Wasaga Beach.

On Monday, police say a man withdrew money and exited a bank on Stonebridge Boulevard around 1 p.m. when he was approached by an individual who claimed to be a police officer and said that he needed to see the victim's wallet, at which time the suspect took the money and pushed him to the ground.

Good Samaritans who witnessed the incident rushed to help the elderly man.

A 38-year-old Wasaga Beach man has been charged with impersonating a police officer, robbery with violence and failure to comply with a probation order.

The accused has a court date in July.
