Seven people charged in connection to anti-mask, anti-lockdown demonstration in Midland

Police say most protesters were cooperative

The Ontario Provincial Police say they have charged seven people in connection to an anti-mask and anti-lockdown demonstration held in the town of Midland on April 24.

Protestors gathered on park property at the Midland Harbour last Saturday. Police say they spoke with demonstrators and add most were cooperative. However, seven people were charged under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.

Fines are set at $750 for failing to comply with the order, with a fine of $1,000 for preventing others from doing so. Police say anyone who believes a gathering isn’t following the law or that a business is operating illegally should contact local municipal bylaw enforcement, and remind everyone that 911 is for emergency use only.
