Sex assault suspect facing new charges: Orillia OPP

Police have linked the accused to two other incidents in Orillia

A suspect in the sexual assault of a woman at a home in Orillia is facing new charges.

The 18-year-old man from Orillia was originally charged in connection with an incident in the wee hours of Thursday, Dec. 2 in which OPP say a woman was sexually assaulted by an unknown man who entered her home.

Police say the accused has now been linked to additional incidents in Orillia, including an attempted residential break and enter that happened on Dec. 1, shortly after 9 p.m., on Barrie Road, and a trespassing incident that occurred overnight on Dec. 2 on Dunn Avenue.

The new charges against the suspect include voyeurism, break and enter and trespassing at night.

The accused has been remanded in custody until a bail hearing via video link scheduled for Dec. 16, 2021, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie.

The investigation by the Orillia Crime Unit, under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch, is continuing.
