The second week back to school for kids brought with it extra patrols from Southern Georgian Bay OPP, which increased its patrol time to school zone areas as well as some outlying areas in northern Simcoe County.

The outlying areas such as Vasey Road, Old Fort Road, Simcoe County Roads 6, 27 and 93 played host to multiple offences, primarily speeding.

One in particular was notable. Monday at 7:11 a.m., a driver was stopped on Vasey Road in Tay after being radared at 123 kilometres per hour in a 60 km/h zone. The 31-year-old man from Elmvale was charged with stunt driving and is facing another charge under the Cannabis Control Act. His vehicle was impounded and his licence was suspended for 30 days.

More tales from these patrols were noteworthy, including a report of a passenger sitting atop the roof of the car on Cedar Point Road in Tiny.

In total, the OPP investigated 12 crashes, responded to 25 traffic complaints, and set up 14 R.I.D.E. programs which checked over 200 drivers for signs of impairment.
