As nature paints the world with hues of red and gold, libraries across the country are celebrating Canadian Library Month. This celebration is dedicated to appreciating and raising awareness about the important role of libraries in our communities. Among the many libraries participating, the Barrie Public Library is celebrating with an exciting giveaway — Share the Library Love.
The Importance Of Libraries In Our Community
More than just a collection of books, libraries are centres of cultural awareness, community engagement, and endless opportunities to learn. They champion freedom of expression and creativity, offering a haven where minds can wander freely, exploring realms both real and imaginary.
The Barrie Public Library stands as a shining example, offering not just an extensive collection of books but a plethora of unique items, from telescopes and video games to sewing machines and gardening kits.
What Is Share the Library Love?
Share The Library Love is not just about borrowing books; it's about embracing a vibrant community, fostering connections, and, of course, winning fantastic prizes.
During the event, the Library invites existing members to “Share the Library Love” for a chance to win an ASUS Chromebook, a $50 Amazon gift card, or one of three BPL swag bags.
The prize draws will take place the week of November 13.
How The Contest Works
Current members can pick up a contest flyer from any BPL location. Each flyer features three tear-off cards that you can give to friends and family.
When your friend or family member turns in the card to sign up for a new library membership (on or before November 13), the new member will receive a piece of exclusive BPL swag. But that's not all – the referrer also gets entered into the grand prize draws.
Melissa Foster, the Manager of Marketing and Communications at BPL, shared the library's enthusiasm: "Libraries are such an amazing community hub, and we want more people to discover all the opportunities that a library card provides. We’ve welcomed close to 10,000 new members this year already, and this is a fun way to keep that momentum going."
Once the new member is signed up, they can begin exploring what BPL has to offer.
What Does The Barrie Public Library Offer?
With three convenient locations in Barrie – Downtown, Holly, and Painswick – BPL offers an array of amenities and services. From traditional books to the latest movies, video games, and magazines, there’s something for every reader. But it doesn’t stop there. The library's Creative Spaces beckon the artist and innovator in you, featuring 3D printers, sewing machines, button makers, laser engravers, and Cricut machines.
For those who prefer a quiet study corner or a collaborative workspace, BPL provides bookable rooms, free Wi-Fi, computers, laptops, and designated children’s play areas. The library is not just a place; it’s an experience waiting to unfold.
