The Bradford West Gwillimbury/Innisfil Police Services Board has appointed Inspector Sheryl Sutton as the new Deputy Chief of the South Simcoe Police Service.

"I look forward to working with the Chief, our members, and our residents to meet the challenges of our growing communities and modern policing."
Inspector Sutton has served in a wide variety of leadership and mentorship roles during her 34-year policing career. She was promoted to the rank of Inspector in 2021 and has commanded many diverse areas including Patrol Operations, Support Services, and Investigative Services.
Sutton was the first female officer to join the Emergency Response Unit (ERU). In addition, she worked in the Criminal Investigation Bureau as a sexual assault, and child abuse investigator. She also became the first female to hold the rank of Inspector at the Service.
A graduate of the Georgian College Law and Security Administration Program, Barrie Campus, Sutton began her policing career in Toronto in 1988 before joining the Innisfil Police Force in 1995.
