
The Simcoe County Rovers women delivered the goods in a big way on Wednesday night away from home defeating Waterloo United 4-0, ensuring that Saturday’s match against Vaughan has championship implications championship on Saturday August 2nd at J.C. Massie Field.
The pressure was clearly on the Rovers when the match started, and the game remained even until the deadlock was broken in the 33rd minute. As she has done all season long Rovers striker Ally Rowe found the back of the net to give the Rovers a 1-0 lead. She struck again in the 40th minute giving the Rovers a 2-0 lead which they held to the half.
The Rovers attacked from the opening whistle of the second half and were rewarded in the 51st minute when Rowe scored her third of the match completing her hat-trick. Striker Stefanie Young added and insurance goal to and the Rovers comfortably saw the game out to collect a big three points. Ally Rowe now has scored an incredible 21 goals in only 15 matches played. Rowe scored another 2 goals during League1 ON Women's Cup play.

After 17 matches played the Rovers sit top of the table with 13 wins 1 loss and 3 draws, good for 42 points. NDC sits right behind in second place with 41 points and North Toronto in third place with 39 points. All 3 teams will play their final game of the 2025 season on Saturday.
Should the Rovers beat Vaughan on Saturday they will win the league and represent League 1 ON at 2025 Women’s Inter-Provincial Championship contested in Sherwood Park, Alberta, The Canadian Championships will bring together team from across the country: the champions of League1 BC, League1 Alberta, League1 Ontario, and Ligue1 Quebec.
The competition will kick off with a pair of semifinal matches on Friday August 8th. The winner of each semifinal will advance to the Championship Final on Sunday August 10th, while the other two will compete in a Third Place match that day. One team, Altitude FC Women of League1 BC, had officiallyclinched its place in this year’s women’s Inter-Provincial Championship. The Simcoe County Rovers look to book their place in what promises to be an exciting match vs Vaughan.
