Ontario SIU director Joseph Martino found no basis for criminal charges for York Regional Police officer after December firearm discharge resulted in death of 37-year-old Newmarket man.

Ontario's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is looking into a serious injury suffered by a 40-year-old man last week in Barrie.

Initial investigation suggests the man was hurt while being arrested at the Shell station at Mapleview Drive and Barrie View Drive after calls about a man causing a disturbance.

If you saw what happened, around 8:30 p.m. on August 30, the SIU would like to hear from you at 1-800-787-8529 or online at https://siu.on.ca/en/appeals.php.
