SNOW, ICE PELLETS AND STRONG WINDS TO START DECEMBER

The messy weather will cover most of Southern Ontario

December is here and the month is launching with plenty of wintry attitude.

Winter Travel Advisories have been posted from Muskoka to the GTA. Environment Canada says the precipitation could start as ice pellets this morning before changing to snow late in the morning or early afternoon. By late afternoon, any snow will taper to flurries or freezing drizzle. 5-10 cm of snow or ice pellets is expected.

In Muskoka, the system will bring mostly snow, possibly 15 cm. The snow will be especially heavy this afternoon.

Another issue will be the wind. Gusts of between 60 and 70 km/h per hour can be expected, causing blowing snow.

Forecasters say travel will become hazardous on area roads.
