Snowbirds Captain Jenn Casey honoured with motorcade in Halifax
Casey died May 17 in Snowbirds crash in BC
The body of Snowbirds Captain Jenn Casey was returned Sunday to her hometown of Halifax.
Casey died May 17 when the Snowbirds aircraft she was in crashed after takeoff from Kamloops, B.C. The flight was to have been part of the Snowbirds’ cross-country tour dubbed Operation Inspiration – a tribute to the efforts of Canadians in the COVID-19 pandemic.
A ramp ceremony at Stanfield International Airport was followed by a motorcade past places in Halifax that were important in her life: her junior high school, the ballpark where she played growing up, and her childhood home.

Gov. Gen. Julie Payette and Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan attended the ramp ceremony.
“No matter how we train, we know that there are risky parts within this job. And that’s why I’m so proud of them,” said Payette, a former astronaut.
