Nearly 10 degrees and sunshine today, not exactly the time to take the snowmobile out for a spin.
Well, somebody did.
South Simcoe Police were called to the area of Canal Road and Line 5 this afternoon about a snowmobile that had gone through the ice.
Police say a 21 year old man operating the sled with a 22 year old woman passenger were travelling on ice when they thought they saw open water ahead.
An attempt to turn the snowmobile around failed and they went through the ice into about 3 or 4 feet of water.
They both walked to shore and had the snowmobile towed out of the water.
