When hearing Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You" finally gets too much, you can reach for the "Earworm Eraser."

The 40-second audio track eliminates those pesky tunes you can't shake.

So, what makes the earworm eraser effective?

It switches between fast and slow tempo every few seconds while changing time signatures and musical styles.

The song has been listened to over 120 thousand times on YouTube, and people say it helps.

Someone wrote, "I work retail for Christmas and had this one song stuck for days so I'm watching this on repeat"

Some people have offered their own techniques for getting rid of the earworm. I love this one.

"The minute I notice I have an earworm, I just sing the first verse of the theme song to "Sesame Street". Kicks the earworm out, and doesn't stick itself in its place. I think it interrupts the groove in my neural pathway and keeps it from deepening."

Have a listen to the Earworm Eraser and judge for yourself.
