Names of two South Simcoe police officers, OPP officer from Barrie to be added to Ontario Police Memorial

All the names of officers to be added to the wall at Sunday's ceremony were killed in the line of duty

The names of five fallen police officers will be added to the Ontario Police Memorial wall at a ceremony in Toronto on Sunday.

Constables Morgan Russell, 54, and Devon Northrup, 33, from the South Simcoe Police Service were gunned down by a man when they responded to a call at an Innisfil home last October.

28-year-old OPP Const. Greg Pierzchala, who was raised in Barrie, died when he was shot responding to a call about a vehicle in a ditch near Hagersville in Haldimand County last December, and Andrew Hong, 48, a Toronto police constable, was shot dead while sitting in a Mississauga coffee shop last September.

A historical name is also being added.

This is the 24th ceremony.
