Police Week runs from May 10-16, 2026, and the South Simcoe Police Service is proud to join services from across the province in celebrating the many ways police and civilian members protect their communities.

This year’s theme, Protecting Ontario through Service, highlights the important work police services do, celebrates policing as a profession and emphasizes how police services work in collaboration with community members and partners in keeping our province safe.

Police Week was first observed in 1970. Since then, Ontario police services and community members have come together to honour and celebrate police officers and civilian personnel for the extraordinary work they do every day.

To celebrate Police Week, the South Simcoe Police Service will be hosting two open houses this week as an opportunity for the public to meet our members and learn about our police service and specialty units. Auxiliary officers will be on hand to provide walkthrough tours of both our North and South Divisions. Attendees will have the opportunity to talk to dispatch and sit in a police cruiser, explore our classic car and police equipment – ATV and motorcycle, meet our police dog, Nitro, and see our Mounted Unit consisting of two horses owned by Briarwood Farm that are provided to South Simcoe Police for ceremonial purposes. There will be plenty of opportunities to take pictures with South Simcoe Police Service members.

Strong communities are built through connection, collaboration and trust. During Police Week, we recognize the commitment of our members and the partnerships that help support safe communities in Innisfil and Bradford. We are grateful for the continued support of our community members and look forward to welcoming the public to our open houses to connect, engage and learn more about the work we do together each day to keep our communities safe.” – Chief John Van Dyke, South Simcoe Police Service.

This year, the service will be hosting two open houses on two separate days. Join us as we celebrate Police Week, the event is free and everyone is welcome.
