Special Investigations Unit closes probe into injuries suffered by a man in Huntsville police cell

Injuries not serious enough to require SIU investigation

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) investigation into injuries suffered last month by a man in a Huntsville OPP holding cell has been closed.

The SIU was called after a 32-year-old man arrested on February 11 appeared unwell as he sat in a cell at the Huntsville OPP detachment. He was taken to hospital and placed under observation for several hours before being released back to the OPP

SIU Director Joseph Martino says, based on preliminary inquiries, the man did not suffer any ‘serious injury’ that would require an investigation by the SIU.
