Huronia West OPP say they used a spike belt to stop a Wasaga Beach man who was reported to be driving dangerously throughout Clearview Township.
Around 12 p.m. on Wednesday, police received a traffic complaint involving a pickup truck. An officer attempted to stop the vehicle on Superior Street in Stayner, but the vehicle sped off.
Shortly after, police intercepted the vehicle on County Road 10 and, with the assistance of Nottawasaga OPP, used a spike belt to stop the truck. After a brief foot chase, police say the motorist was taken into custody, and officers entered into an impaired operation investigation.
As a result, the 31-year-old driver was charged with flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation, refusal to comply with a demand and impaired driving.
The accused was held for a bail hearing on Thursday.
