Spike Belt Kept Fleeing Vehicle From Bracebridge School Zone
Vehicle Sped Off After Calling Police For Help
Police had to throw down a spike belt to end a chase in Bracebridge.
A motorist called police for help along southbound Highway 11 in Bracebridge around 2:00 Friday afternoon. Something must have gone wrong, as police say the driver soon fled in his vehicle.
Officers say he continued south on Highway 11 to Cedar Lane, refusing to stop for the flashing lights and sirens.
Police deployed a spike belt on Cedar Lane to prevent the vehicle from getting too close to a school zone. Four cruisers took some minor damage in the process, while no one was hurt.
The driver has been taken into custody, charges are pending.
