Barrie Police have charged two drivers with impaired following a St. Patrick’s Day RIDE check.
According to police, they set up multiple checks on Sunday.
The first was at Bayfield and Collier Streets where a 57-year-old Sault Ste. Marie woman was arrested after failing a roadside breathalyzer test.
She was then taken to police headquarters and it was determined her blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit. She was charged with impaired driving.
Police also set up a RIDE check spot at the Lakeshore Drive and Victoria Street area.
According to police, a 28-year-old Toronto man did not pull over when entering the stop, and then failed a breathalyzer test. He was arrested and transported to headquarters where a breathalyzer technician determined he was driving with a blood alcohol level over twice the legal limit.
He faces three charges related to the incident.
Police say both drivers had their vehicles impounded for seven days and a 90-day license suspension. They will appear in court on April 3.
