Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH) announced today that they are opening a new paediatric clinic later this month.
The clinic, set for launch on February 25, will be headed by Dr. Jessica Gillam, a paediatrician from Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH), according to a release.
"The Paediatric Clinic will operate one day a month and will be located in the hospital’s Outpatient Department on the second floor," officials wrote.
"Designed to help meet the growing healthcare needs of children in the community."

Key details:
- Referral required: The clinic operates by referral only and is not a walk-in service. Families and individuals interested in utilizing the clinic must contact their family
physician/primary care provider to obtain a referral. - Frequency: The clinic will be offered once per month, with the possibility of expanding based on demand and physician availability.
- Patient care criteria: The clinic will focus on general paediatric care and will not
address acute illness, emergency care, behavioural or mental health needs. General paediatric care includes patients with chronic illness, pain management, asthma, medical follow up and abnormal blood testing.
“This is an important service for our hospital and community, and I thank Dr. Gillam and the RVH Team for helping to bring this service to Stevenson,” says Dr. Ihab Khalil, Chief of Paediatrics, SMH.
"The clinic is expected to provide a welcoming, professional, and supportive environment for both children and their families," the release noted.
