The forecasted winter storm is on track with a buffet of weather for southern Ontario on Tuesday.
Environment Canada says about 10 cm of snow, possibly 15 cm for some locations, is on tap for the Barrie-Collingwood-Midland areas, as well as Innisfil-New Tecumseth-Essa-Dufferin and northern sections of York and Durham, such as Newmarket and Beaverton.
The snow could mix with ice pellets late Tuesday afternoon before changing to rain in the evening.
A snowfall warning is in effect for southern sections of Muskoka as well as Orillia-Washago-Lagoon City where snowfall total could reach 20 cm. The snow is expected to change to rain in the evening.
A winter storm warning is in effect for Huntsville-Parry Sound and Haliburton where a transition to rain later in the day is less likely, though there is the threat of freezing rain and ice pellets. Snowfall amounts will range between 15 and 30 cm locally.
In the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area, a rainfall warning has been issued. The storm will start as snow and drop about 5 to 10 cm before changing to rain afternoon and continuing tonight. Rainfall total could reach 30 mm creating ponding on roads.
The impending storm resulted in the cancellation of school buses in Simcoe County on Tuesday.
There won’t be much breathing room once this storm system blows through.
Forecasters are keeping an eye on another storm that could barge in Friday night and last through most of Saturday bringing strong winds and heavy snow.
