Two Barrie police officers were all ears.

Police say the officers were completing a call for service around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the area of Park Place when they heard a vehicle engine revving loudly in the main parking lot, which was followed by the sound of heavy acceleration and tires spinning on the asphalt parking surface. Police add this was followed by a cloud of white smoke and the odour of burnt rubber.

An 18-year-old man from Stroud was charged with stunt driving.

The vehicle has been impounded for 14 days and the driver has had his licence suspended for 30 days.
