PREVIOUS STORY:
Highway 400 will be closed in both directions from 10 p.m. tonight (Aug 19) until 8 a.m. Sunday (Aug 20) as work to remove and replace the Sunnidale Road bridge continues.
The highway will be closed at Dunlop Street and at Bayfield Street.
The Sunnidale Road bridge replacement project, conducted by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO), includes the following:
- Demolishing the existing Sunnidale Road bridge
- Replacing the bridge with a larger structure including new sidewalks and a wider bridge deck to improve traffic operations and active transportation
- Major work on Highway 400 to make way for the new bridge, which is large enough to accommodate a wider Highway 400 in the future
- Paving the Highway 400 and Bayfield Street interchange
The estimated completion date for the project is the end of 2024.
