
Barrie police credit an eagle-eyed cop and the city's closed-circuit TV (CCTV) program for an arrest in an assault investigation.
On Saturday, police said an officer spotted a man on Dunlop Street who matched the image of the assault suspect captured on CCTV.
"The suspect was arrested and transported to police headquarters were officers discovered he was in possession of fentanyl," police said in a media release.

A 21-year-old Barrie man was charged with assault and two counts of failing to comply with probation, and in addition, he was also charged with drug possession and two counts of failing to comply with probation.
"This case highlights the effectiveness of Barrie’s CCTV program, which has expanded since its 2012 launch to enhance public safety and support investigations. The system includes traffic monitoring cameras, with footage retained for 20 days unless accessed for law enforcement purposes," according to the news release.
