Police Say Suspect Approached as the Family Pet Was Being Let Out

Barrie Police are providing a composite sketch of a suspect following what is now confirmed as a sexual assault during a home invasion.

Police say a man forced his way into a Cygnus Crescent home the morning of April 3rd, sexually assaulting the homeowner. The victim, said to be a woman in her 30’s, required hospitalization, but has had her physical wounds treated and has since been released.

A homeowner needed a trip to the hospital after a home invasion in Barrie.

Investigators say the Cygnus Crescent resident awoke to let the family pet out this morning, but was confronted by an unknown male who allegedly forced his way in, around 9:00 Wednesday morning. The homeowner was assaulted in the process, requiring treatment at local hospital.

The suspect is described as:

  • Male, white, late 30’s to early 40’s, 5’8-5’10’ tall, heavy stocky build, brown eyes, dark buzz cut style hair and a scruffy dark beard.
  • Wearing blue jeans and a brown zippered hoodie.
