There was no way out for an Innisfil man after South Simcoe Police say he jumped into the passenger side of a vehicle and assaulted the driver.

This happened around 12:30 p.m. on Friday in the area of Yonge and Victoria Streets.

Police say the suspect demanded the motorist drive.

Instead, they say the victim got out of his vehicle and locked the suspect inside the car until police arrived. While in the car, police say he damaged the interior.

A 52-year-old has been charged with robbery, assault with a weapon and mischief under $5,000.

The accused was released with a future court date.

No one was injured.
