Some good news came out of this Star Wars Day with the news that Taika Waititi will be directing an upcoming Star Wars film.
Taika Waititi isn't a stranger to the Star Wars universe having directed the finale for The Mandalorian season 1 and also isn't new to taking on movies in a massive universe with Thor: Ragnarok receiving near-universal praise as one of the best films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Along with directing, he will also be lending his talents as an Oscar-Winning writer (Jojo Rabbit) to the project alongside Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917).
This new Star Wars project is still very early in pre-production so no word on the setting, storyline, or a release date.
