UPDATE: Teen Charged In Connection to Stabbing Death

Twenty-One-Year-Old Pronounced Dead At Hospital

Barrie Police have charged a 19-year-old man in connection to an overnight stabbing death in Barrie.

The teen was arrested around 9:30 Monday morning, and held for questioning over the day. Formal charges were announced Tuesday morning; he faces a count each of Manslaughter and Aggravated Assault.

One man is dead, another in custody, following a stabbing in north Barrie.

First responders were called to a Heather St. home shortly before 11:30 Sunday night, to find a 21-year-old man suffering life threatening wounds. The injuries appeared to have been caused by an edged weapon. He was rushed to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

A 19-year-old man was taken into custody Monday morning, but was not immediately charged by police.

Residents in the area of Heather St. and Noam Dr. should expect a police presence throughout the day Monday as investigators gather evidence.
