Teen assaulted, vehicle stolen in robbery at Barrie school parking lot

Barrie Police are investigating a robbery and vehicle theft involving a 17-year-old boy in the parking lot of a south-end elementary school.

Police say the incident happened around 10 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27, at Hewitt's Creek Public School on Sandringham Drive near Big Bay Point Road.

The teen told investigators he was parked in the lot when he was approached by three suspects, two of whom were wearing masks.

Police say the teen was reportedly dragged from his vehicle and assaulted.

The suspects took his cell phone and fled in the vehicle.

The victim ran to a nearby home to get help and contact police.

He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the vehicle has since been recovered.

Investigators are asking anyone in the area who may have information, including security camera footage from around the time of the incident, to contact the investigating officer at mmellish@barriepolice.ca.
