Barrie Police have arrested and charged a 17-year-old male for accessing and possession of child pornography.

Police say their Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) started an investigation in October last year after receiving information that a suspect was using Facebook to distribute child pornography. On March 30, 2022, the ICE unit executed a search warrant at a residence in north Barrie and seized several computer devices belonging to the suspect.

The teen was charged on Monday and was held pending a bail hearing.
