
South Simcoe Police have laid charges in an investigation into a collision in Innisfil last summer involving a dirt bike that resulted in the 15-year-old rider being airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre.
On Aug. 11, 2025, police said a youth was operating a dirt bike at a high rate of speed on Mountbatten Avenue when they lost control and struck a parked car.
The teen has since been charged with the following:
- careless driving
- driving a motor vehicle with no licence
- operate unsafe vehicle
- owner operating a motor vehicle on a highway - no insurance.
"Police are reminding residents that dirt bikes are off-road vehicles and are prohibited from being operated on municipal roadways. When driven on roads, they are motor vehicles and are subject to the same requirements as any other road user," police said in a news release
