The NHL has suspended its season amid COVID-19 outbreak

Announcement comes as basketball, soccer season

Officials with the National Hockey League have announced it has suspended its season to help curb the spread of COVID-19.

This announcement comes a day following announcement from the NBA and that the season is being suspended. The MLS has also cancelled its season out of an abundance of caution.

Other cancellations announced include:

  • Disney Land in California will be closed temporarily
  • Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons March 21st and 22nd shows cancelled at Casino Rama
  • Peter McKay has cancelled all public campaign events
  • Georgian College has cancelled its annual Pow Wow
  • the Juno Awards, which was to be held on March 15th in Saskatoon.
  • a meeting between Premiers and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau; the PM and his wife were in self-isolation as of Thursday morning, awaiting COVID-19 test results.
  • Princess Cruises has suspended service on all 18 of its ships for two months
  • Toronto’s St. Patrick’s Day parade
  • National Lacrosse League has postponed its season
