Traffic stop in Midland leads to seizure of thousands of contraband cigarettes

An OPP traffic stop in Midland has led to a large seizure of contraband cigarettes.

More than 36,000 cigarettes were confiscated.

A 52-year-old Winnipeg man has been charged with possession of unmarked cigarettes and possession for the purpose of sale.

He was also found to breaching conditions of parole.

The accused was transported directly to Central North Correctional Centre. The vehicle used in the commission of the offence was towed and impounded for seven days under the Tobacco Tax Act.
