Trio charged with spending counterfeit currency in Orillia after local business recognized suspect descriptions

Three Barrie men accused of spending phony bills in Orillia and Rama First Nation

Three Barrie men are facing charges after police made a funny money bust in Orillia.

Orillia OPP got a call on March 21st, and another on the 22nd, from businesses in Orillia and Rama First Nation reporting someone had tried to spend counterfeit American currency.

A third call came on the 22nd, from a business on Atherley Road that recognized the suspects’ descriptions. Details of their vehicle were provided to officers who honed in on their location.

Three men, aged 30, 36 and 38, were taken into custody after a short foot pursuit. All three are facing counterfeit and flight from police charges.
