Two Innisfil men facing drunk driving charges after traffic stops two hours apart

Missing plate tipped cops off to one driver, OPP already pulled the other over

A missing licence plate led South Simcoe Police to lay further charges.

An officer out on patrol in the area of Jans Blvd. and Corm St. in Innisfil spotted a vehicle that was missing a plate around 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, July 11. Police claim the vehicle sped off but was quickly stopped. The officer says they could smell alcohol coming from the driver.

A roadside breath test resulted in a fail for the driver, who was taken back to the police station for further investigation. Police say a 22-year-old Innisfil man has since been charged with impaired driving and failing to display two licence plates.

About two hours later, police received a driving complaint from the area of Highway 89 and the 400. By the time South Simcoe Police arrived, the OPP had already pulled the vehicle in question over.

The municipal service picked up where the provincial officers left off, and now a 27-year-old Innisfil man is facing a charge of impaired driving.
